Pet adoptions. Events. Transport program. Foster care. Maddie's Fund recognition. These and other important issues are gaining wider coverage in the media, thanks to new public relations efforts undertaken by the Mayor's Alliance.

In April, the Mayor's Alliance contracted with M. Silver Associates, a public relations firm based in New York City, to build awareness of the Alliance, its participating organizations, and efforts to transform NYC into a no-kill community. As a result of this collaboration, we already have succeeded in significantly increasing Alliance exposure on television and radio, and in newspapers and magazines. Just a few of the highlights we achieved in April and May:

WCBS-TV 2 News at 5: A feature spot on fostering animals aired on May 4. The segment featured Anne-Marie Karash of the Humane Society of New York, and Sharon Greeley of Tri-State Basset Hound Rescue, her son Jacob, and their adorable foster Basset Hound, Flash.

WNYW-TV Fox 5 News at 10: Coverage of Mayor's Alliance/Maddie's Pet Adoption Festival aired on May 6.

WPIX-TV WB 11 News at Ten: Feature on the MTA evacuation plan, included microchipping and ASPCA Dog Walk plug on May 22.

WNYW-TV Fox 5 News at 5: MTA Evacuation Plan feature story aired on May 22.

WABC-TV 7 Eyewitness News This Morning: Feature on how rising gas prices are affecting the Mayor's Alliance transport program on June 5.

Plus various local television coverage of Mayor's Alliance/Maddie's Pet Adoption Festivals.

New York Daily News: May 6 article featured highlights of Mayor's Alliance/Maddie's Pet Adoption Festival.

WNBC.com, CBSNews.com, ABCNews.go.com, and dozens more syndicated coverage of Associated Press article.

Using the power of the media, we will continue to get our messages before the public at every opportunity, and build greater awareness and support for our mission, our participating organizations, and, most important — the Little New Yorkers who are depending on our success.
